We have a number of place names in Australia that use Mungo. My grandad used to go on fishing trips to a place called Mungo Brush. There's also a Lake Mungo that had some famous fossils I think. Never heard of a dumpster diving use for it- I thought they were called freegans. Nihilarian, sounds a bit made up from nihilist.

Weird indeed. We have a mungo who drives through our neighborhood every garbage day.
