My Book Blog Follow Friday

"What book(s) have you discovered lately from someone's blog?"

I discovered the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.

I couldn't get into the Hunger Games and stopped about 50 pages in. I just couldn't get past the violence of children killing children. Call me old-fashioned, I guess.

My daughter read Clockwork Angel and recommended it to me since I like fiction set in the Victorian time period. Plus I like the fact that it is going to be an ongoing series. Gives you something to look forward to.

  1. I recently saw a book review for Plain Kate and World War Z, both Sci-fi, so I got them from the library. I'd never heard of them before. I like finding books like that, ones that I didn't know about that turn out to be really good.

  8. I've never heard of that book, but I felt similar trying to read Water For Elephants. There was just too many smutty things in it. I'm old-fashion. Not too ashamed of it, either.

  9. Thanks for stopping by and happy Friday! I also thought Hunger Games was really terrifying, but I loved it. It's definitely not for everyone though. I haven't read Clockwork Angel yet, but plan to!

  17. I completely understand what you mean about The Hunger Games, they certainly are heartbreaking. But I have read the first and second one, and loved them. They emotionally hurt me, sure, but I still enjoyed them. I did almost stop reading the second one halfway through, but I made myself keep going. It's part of the reason I haven't been able to read number 3 yet!
