That's a sad word when you really think about it.
It's a terribly sad word, but the feel of the German in my mouth takes me back t high school. :-)

Hi Mary Ann,Having never studied German at school, I must admit that from a lay-man's perspective, Schadenfruede sounds like a very harsh word for such a sad definition.My school-day French not being quite up to the task, I 'googled' the French translation of the German word and came back with 'malin-plaisir', which definitely sounds a little kinder!Thanks for sharing :)Yvonne

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up.
