Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words Wednesday

I found these words in the book I am currebtly reading:
Moonlight Over Paris  by Jennifer Robson

epergnes-ornamental centerpieces for a dining table, typically used for holiday flowers.

banquette- an upholstered bench along a wall, especially in a restaurant or bar.

  1. Have you ever seen an epergnes - they're huge! They used to be used quite a bit in the south but we've become less formal and they've kind of faded away.

  2. I looked up a picture of them, they are quite big.

  3. I saw banquette and thought it was a fancy way of saying banquet. I'm surprised that it's a piece of furniture. Good one!

  4. Interesting word today! I had heard banquette before. Knew it was a bench, not that it was necessarily upholstered though. Thanks for sharing these.

  7. I am very happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that's at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best posting.

  8. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
