Hi Mary Ann,There are some people who are naturally 'properly' spoken and were brought up that way, and then there are those who speak with affectation and as the author so rightly says, 'stiffly'.I have a work colleague who speaks with a slight affectation in her delivery and insists on pronouncing the word 'off' as 'orf'. It so irritated me, that one day I simply had to enquire exactly how long there had been an 'r' in off!I can't decide if the 'John Gower' series is one for me or not, although both books so far, have excellent storylines, whilst not being too much of a chunkster read :)Yvonne.
