Dangerous Method The Movie

Dangerous Method The Movie

I went to see this movie which was from the 2011 Toronto Intl. Film Festival. It's a film of passion and ideas centered around two twentieth century intellectual giants, Freud and Carl Jung, his disciple. We see throughout the film how Jung's inability through psychoanalysis to keep himself from getting involved with his patients, especially a woman played by Keira Knightly. The relationship between the two men is greatly stained by Jung's affair. It's based on a book of real events and the final screen postings of what happened to these three people is really surprising. Some scenes were very raw and unsettling, but all in all an interesting film.

Project Runway

Last night on the show , the designers had to design an outfit for Miranda Kerr and Diane Von Furstenberg, who is one of the most successful designers in the business. They only had six hours to work on their designs, so the pressure was on them. Gelato flavors served as their inspiration. Michael's satin draped gown won out and he won for the second week in a row. April 's blueberry inspired dress wasn't a hit and she was eliminated. Stay tuned.

My Thoughts:

I found this to be a very captivating story of Rachel an unwed mother who had an affair with a married man in 1649. The consequences of her pregnancy back then was death by hanging, she was considered a public disgrace. Rachel is a simple girl, who worked as a glove maker. She hid her condition and after she gives birth and the baby dies, she ends up burying the infant to hide the evidence. The body of the baby is discovered and so is her secret. She goes to trial and prison under deplorable conditions. What happens to her is really a so called miracle, I found this book to be very interesting and definitely a page turner.

The designers on last night's show had to design a cocktail dress for Miss Piggy to wear while she's walking the red carpet, promoting her new film. As the designers were frantically putting together their outfits, they didn't seem to be having too much fun with it. A lot of them chose black where Austin and Gordana chose pink. Desperately Wanting Wednesday

Title: Until Next Time: The Angel Chronicles, Book 1
Author: Amy Lignor
Expected publication: February 1st

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.

Pawn Stars

I decided to watch Pawn Stars last night since it wasn't a re-run and sometimes I find it interesting to see what the people want to pawn or sell. A man did bring in an old book and said it was a first edition of Henry David Thoreau. Chum-lee spoke up and said he read the book , and after quizzing him about it , they found out that he was right. The expert came in to look the book over and said the good news was that if it was it would be worth around $25,000. The bad news was it was an English edition and not as rare and it sold for $100.Many other items were brought in, but this was my favorite of the night.

My thanks to Paul H. Magid for stopping by Tribute Books Mama for an author interview during the blog tour for his book, Lifting the Wheel of Karma.

GIVEAWAY

Leave a comment with your email address to win a FREE paperback of Lifting the Wheel of Karma. There will be 3 winners. Giveaway ends 1/31/12.

1. How does your book appeal to women?
I have found that women find appealing the deeply emotional component to my novel. It is a story of finding a way to heal by overcoming tragedy and extreme adversity, with the support and love of his family. It is also a tale of spiritual discovery and insight on the wings of forgiveness and redemption.

2. How does your book appeal to men?
Men, it would seem by nature, are not as attuned to emotional elements, but rather in my novel's case, to the universal journey of understanding and enlightenment.

3. How does your book appeal to teenagers and those in their 20s?
The spiritual journey is a universal experience, and I believe this applies to people of all ages, including teenagers and those in their 20s.

4. How does your book appeal to those who are middle aged?
Everyone questions the path they are on in this life, and those who are middle aged know they are halfway through the journey of life, which naturally and instinctively leads to trying to figure out the journey.

5. How does your book appeal to the elderly?
The elderly have had by far the most experience in pursuing meaning in life and the spiritual questions and answers that are posed in my novel may very well resonate strongly with them.

6. In your mind, who is the ideal reader of your book?
The ideal reader for my novel is everyone who is curious about the journey, purpose, and meaning of life. Everyone who enjoys an extraordinary story will find a great connection to my novel.

A Profound Spiritual Journey of Extraordinary Healing and Redemption - a modern tale that harkens back to the myths of antiquity. It takes you on a remarkable journey, while exploring the themes of healing, redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice, and ultimately...peace within.

Joseph Connell is a gifted high school athlete from Montana, loved deeply by his family, yet tormented by nightmarish visions he can neither explain nor escape.

He believes the answer to what threatens to crush him can be found in the knowledge possessed by a mystical old wise man, who lives deep within the remote Himalayas of India.

If Joseph is ever to find the peace he so desperately seeks, he must get this wise old man to reveal what he truly knows, but that will not be easy…for this sage knows far more than he admits.

About the Author
Paul H. Magid

Paul H. Magid started writing his debut novel, LIFTING THE WHEEL OF KARMA, twenty-five years ago while still in high school. It took him so long to complete because he tried repeatedly to abandon it, but the work refused to be forsaken. Eventually he realized that sharing this story with the world was, in fact, his Dharma.

Along the way he has worked as a Wall Street financial analyst, a waiter (not a very good one), a Hollywood Agent Trainee, a real estate developer, a summer day camp director, an award winning screenwriter, and independent filmmaker—including his autobiographical film, A LIFE UNFINISHED, which screened in The Hamptons International Film Festival.

CHAPTER TWENTY
Beatrice Amon and the Peaches

Teddy said uneasily, “Well look, Father. I can't help but think that all Miss Amon did by calling the cops was cause a whole bunch of trouble for all of us—even you.”

The priest’s exasperation with the young man's remarks was obvious. “Oh really? That's what you think, is it? Did you listen to one word I just said? Did you?”

Now Teddy was unnerved. When Father Sullivan got angry he seemed to grow two feet in height. He became very intimidating, especially for an 18 year old who knew him since the third grade. “Yes, Father, I was listening.”

“No, Teddy, you weren’t. You were too busy thinking about how much you don't like Miss Amon. Your pride has gotten in the way of your faith. L-Y-N, remember? Time to move on, Teddy. Miss Amon is not the mean-spirited person you think she is. In fact, none of you really know anything about her, do you? Now, you’re going to have to take this pride of yours and stuff it in your back pocket and sit on it. The fact is, you owe Miss Amon something.”

www.ThePriestAndThePeaches.com

Take a seven day journey with the five, newly orphaned Peach kids, as they begin their struggle to remain a family while planning their dad's funeral.

They find an ally in the local parish priest, Father Tim Sullivan, who tries his best to guide them through the strange, unchartered and turbulent waters of "grown-up world." A story that is sad, funny, and inspiring as it shows how the power of family love and faith can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
