My teaser today is taken from: The Walnut Tree by Charles Todd   Pg. 15

He reached into his pocket and brought out a small velvet box. Flicking it open he passed it across the table to me. "It was my mother's ring. She wore it with pride as my father's wife.I offer it to you."
