Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words Wednesday

My words today are taken from: Weird English Words.

1. Depone- to testify under oath.

2. Finnimbrun- a trinket or knick-knack.

3. Limerance- an attempt at a scientific study into the nature of romantic love.

  1. Hi Mary Ann,

Some really 'weird and wonderful' words today and all of them new to me.

I might have been able to work out 'depone', but the other two would have really had me flummoxed.

'limerance' is quite a nice word, however 'finnimbrun' doesn't sound like a good way of describing a trinket, not really worth the bother of remembering it!

    Interesting post, thanks for sharing,

    Yvonne

  3. Weird English Words indeed! People don't say knick-knack enough do they? Not sure I could manage finnimbrun.

  4. I wonder if there is a relationship between the words limerick and limerance?
