Princess Kaiulani - tv Movie

I saw an interesting movie about crown princess Kaiulani who was heir to the throne of the kingdom of Hawaii. She became known throughout the world for her intelligence, beauty, and determination. The princess was never given the opportunity to speak before congress, her aunt and the Hawaii political societies could not undo the injustice of the overthrow. She shared her people's sorrows first hand and continued her role as a beloved ali until her death.

"What book-to-movie adaptation have you most liked? Which have you disliked?

Pride & Prejudice is the one I liked, and the one I didn't like was Vanity Fair because in the movie , Reese Witherspoon's character was made likeable but in the book , she was cold and vindictive.

Bridesmaids-The Movie

Bridesmaids

I saw a really funny movie the other day called Bridesmaids. Annie, the unhinged maid of honor for her best friend's wedding and the other bridesmaids who are an ensemble of twisted sisters, who come in all shapes and sizes are hilarious. The events planning the shower to the actual wedding keep you laughing and surprised. To me it was worth the price of admission.

Celebrity Apprentice- season finale

Last night's shown was live and it was very exciting to see all of the season's contestants come back. Words got heated again between NeNe and Starr. Mr. Trump asked each of the contestants who should win, some said that they couldn't choose between the two, they both did an amazing job.In the end John Rich won over Marlee and the words "you're fired "were not spoken. I think the show ended on a good note.

Dwight tried in vane to get another interview and ended up interviewing himself. Angela, Creed, Kelly, and Ryan were very good and it was also good to see them more on the show. No manager was chosen by the end of the show's season. I guess we will have to wait .

Depending on how young, certain adult books should be off limits.

Lark Rise To Candleford (tv series)

Started to watch this BBC series, which is set in the small Oxfordshire hamlet of Lark Rise and the wealthier neighbouring market town of Candleford towards the end of the 19th century. The series chronicles the daily lives of farm workers, craftsmen, and gentry, as it is seen through the eyes of two characters, Laura Timmins (a teenage girl) and her cousin, Dorcas Lane , the post mistress.I found it very good, once I got into it.

Water For Elephants-Movie

Water For Elephants

I saw the movie version of this book over the week-end, and after comparing both have to say the movie kept pretty much to the book. The background story for Marlena was changed, but most of the other parts stayed pretty much the same. it depicts the circus life in the 30's and how the struggle to keep a small circus going. Some of the abuses that went on with both the animals and workers was really bad. The owner and ringmaster, I thought was cleverly cast. Robert Pattinson, I thought did well in the part, seeing him not in his familiar vampire role.

A favorite of mine Kristie Alley sort of ran out of steam and her performance was described as uneventful. Ralph Macchio, another favorite did the quick step and managed to get a 10 from judge Burns. It ended up with Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward on the top, and Romeo and Kirstie on the bottom. Stay tuned tonight for the result show.

I received Backseat Saints by Joshilyn Jackson from the Hachette Book Group.

Rose Mae Lolley's mother disappeared when she was eight, leaving Rose with a heap of old novels and a taste for dangerous men. Now, as demure Mrs. Ro Grandee, she's living the very life her mother abandoned. She's all but forgotten the girl she used to be-teenaged spitfire, Alabama heartbreaker, and a crack shot with a pistol-until an airport gypsy warns Rose it's time to find her way back to that brave, tough girl . . . or else. Armed with only her wit, her pawpy's ancient .45, and her dog Fat Gretel, Rose Mae hightails it out of Texas, running from a man who will never let her go, on a mission to find the mother who did.

Starring a minor character from Jackson's bestselling gods in Alabama, BACKSEAT SAINTS will dazzle readers with its stunning portrayal of the measures a mother will take to right the wrongs she's created, and how far a daughter will travel to satisfy the demands of forgiveness.

I received Releasing Gillian's Wolves by Tara Woolpy from the author.

We frequently see women standing by their Senator/Congressman/Religious figure husbands at press conferences and wonder why they stay as their spouses admit to all sorts of bad behavior. Bats in the Boathouse Press is proud to announce the publication of Releasing Gillian’s Wolves, the story of just such a political wife, why she stays and what happens when she finally decides to let go.

Thirty years ago Gillian married Jack Sach, now a United States Congressman. Through the years she’s remained faithful. He hasn’t. Ever. She cooks to soothe herself and others, takes care of her mother-in-law, gardens, sneaks off to the studio to explode with angry paintings and tries to keep Jack’s dalliances secret,. As she nears fifty, her friends think she should leave but she lingers, bound by inertia and fear of the effect media coverage of a divorce would have on her family.

Gillian shares a trust fund with Edward, her gay neighbor and best friend. Their grandfathers made a fortune together and left it to the two of them. Over the years, in support of Gillian’s marriage, the trust bankrolled Jack’s many successful campaigns. Not particularly interested in politics, Gillian survives by ignoring everything outside her kitchen, garden and studio. Edward has his own ragged past filled with bad relationships, drugs and alcohol. Through the course of a summer, Gillian’s marriage continues to deteriorate while Edward’s life finally starts to improve. He’s sober, stable and has just found life-changing love with Sam, a Biology professor at the local university. Their happiness shines a stark light on Gillian’s loveless marriage. Finally, when Gillian meets Jack’s latest conquest, twenty-year-old Ashley, she’s forced to confront the rot at the core of her relationship. She travels to Amsterdam, meets Luke, an intriguing Dutch sculptor, and discovers it is never too late for happiness.

"No way!" he says, until a demon kidnaps his kid sister, Kathy. Then Irish and his two friends, Streak and Huff, time-hop to this besieged world of Celtic mythology to rescue her. But . . . are they ready to deal with a shape-shifter, a death fog, demon warriors, killer earthquakes and vicious flesh-eating wulgoars to save her? Can Irish's ancestor, the ancient Celtic warrior hero Cuchulain, or the talking trees, help the boys triumph over evil?
