Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words Wednesday

My words today are taken from the book Accidents Of Providence by Staci Brown.

1. wainscot- A board of riven and later quarter-sawn oak.

2. rheumy- A watery or thin mucous discharge from the eyes or nose.

3. scalding wormwood- A mixture of 1/2 cup scalded milk added to cornmeal.

  2. Great words there. I knew wainscot(ting) and rheumy. I know wormwood as a source for absinthe, but had never heard of scalding wormwood.

  3. Wainscoting is pretty popular in this part of the country, so I knew wainscot. Scalding wormwood doesn't sound too good to me.
