Wondrous Words Wednesday

1. ebullient- (adj) extremely lively, enthusiastic.

2. effulgent- (adj) radiant, splendorous.

3. fractious- (adj) troublesome or irritable.

These are actually taken from SAT vocabulary words.

  2. Ditto to what Kathy said. Wonder what that says about our SAT scores. Effulgent was new to me. Can't say I've ever seen it before.

  3. I was shaky on effulgent, beyond the fact that it meant something positive.

  4. I know 2 of 3 today too. YAY. Effulgent to me sounds more like the opposite of the meaning. I'd probably remember it more if it meant grimy, awful, coated in muck. Ebullient is also very close to the French word for boiling, and indeed bubbly is one of it's definitions.
