Booking Through Thursday
What's the hardest/most challenging book you've ever read? Was it worth the effort? did you read it by choice or was it an assignment/obligation?
The most challenging book I've ever read was as a young girl, Little Women. I was not into reading at that time . The book was a gift and I felt obligated to read it. Now I can appreciate it.
I chose the hardest book this year for me to read. http://sidnebkclubreveiwz.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI've never actually read "Little Women" *hangs head in shame* Glad you could appreciate it eventually.
ReplyDeleteHere's my BTT - House Millar series
Aine
I loved Little Women as a kid and I must have read it over and over. I'm different to you in that I picked it myself so I didn't feel obligated.
ReplyDeleteMy BTT is here if you'd like a look :)
I've never actually read Little Women! Kinda a shame...
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Ink Puddle! :)
I never read it until my 20s, by which time I enjoyed it. When younger, any book would have been a challenge.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read this one, but I have seen it mentioned a few times today!
ReplyDeleteMay give it a shot though, since I do hear good things about it!
I've never even read Little Women, and I'm pretty sure it's a mandatory read if you're a girl! I'll have to pick it up sometime ... I'd probably appreciate it more now than I would've when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteI loved that book growing up, but I can imagine being obliged to read any book can kill the spirit of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how your perspective changes, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSidne- thanks! for stopping.
ReplyDeleteAnya- At a young age I didn't.
Claire, Jordan, Sierra, Readinginaminute-A great story and film.
Anthonynorth, Val Gryphin- You're right.
bermudaonion- Yes, it wouldn't be a challenge to read now.
Right now, I'm heading into the finish line of a year-long readalong of War and Peace - honestly, even at a chapter a day, this one is challenging, mainly because Tolstoy isn't consistent with the names he uses for many of the characers, and I have a difficult time keeping them straight in my mind. All I can say is, at the end of the year, I'll be able to say I read it.
ReplyDeleteI loved "Little Women" though always felt Jo ended up with the wrong man. *sigh*
