1. borborygm- A rumbling of the stomach.

2. Gazump- To buy something already promised to someone else.

  5. I wish I could figure out how to pronounce borborygm so I could use it tonight. Is 100 Funniest Words in English a book? It sounds like a lot of fun.

  6. Two wonderful words there. Borborygmi is a more familiar usage to me (it is the plural, and after all tummy rumblings are rarely singular). Kathy you would say that bor-bor-ig-me (well that's an Australian pronunciation, not quite sure how Americans would say it). Interesting that it is pretty much the same in French. Gazump is a word that has been in reasonably common usage in Australia.
