Booking Through Thursday

Booking Through Thursday

Name one book that you hope never ever, ever gets made into a movie(no matter how good that movie may be.)

  2. I've heard of this but never read it. Did you love or hate it?

  3. Too late to wish - it has been done (1993). I've seen the movie on TV and it left an impression; but I've not read the book, so can't compare details. I've read others by Conrad though. On IMDB the movie rates 5.6 of 10 and many were disappointed with it.

  4. HA! Sadly, books I dislike are always getting turned into movies!

  5. I haven't read the book but the film Apocolypse Now is an adaptation of it. I quite liked it.

  6. Easy! Alyson Noels Evermore series! It started out with a bang and went downhill from then on. I was never so disappointed as I was when I got to book 3 and the 'wrench' aka Jude stepped in to ruin Ever and Damien's chance at happiness every single time.

I'm so disappointed in the way the books are going. She could've chosen so many other things to focus on but that shirt and her and Damien 'being together' has lasted thru so many books only to have the wrench come in and ruin it every time. I keep thinking of all the wonderful storylines she could have come up with! It's such a shame :o(

That's the one book I would really hate to see be made into a movie and also one that I hope she wraps up soon.

On a happier note, The Radiance series-about her little sister, Riley Bloom, is very good so far!

I hate to sound so negative, truly, I rarely am but that series really gets me (as you can see, LOL)!

  7. My heart skipped a beat when I read your choice of Heart of Darkness. I flashed back to the two times I had to read this book in college - one for a philosophy class called 'The Problem of Evil' and the other was a Critical Theory English class. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't read this book without chucking it against the wall. Maybe a film adaptation would have helped?

Interesting choice though. I love reading your posts because I never know what I'm going to read next!

  8. Like Karen said, Apocalypse Now is an adaptation of it. Unfortunately I can't even know what to say about it, since I had to watch it while at uni for our Critical Thinking class. Our professor kept standing in front of the screen every 10 minutes going "I love this bit" or "pay close attention now" or "this is really important!" Spoiled everything for me. And then we had to write an essay on it and spent about 3 weeks talking about it.

Previously we had read Heart of Darkness for our English Lit class, and I was so sick of it by then. Of course we wrote an essay on it, followed by a 2 hour discussion.

Gah! We still joke about it though, 10 years on, traumatised as we were (still are).
