Booking Through Thursday

Do you remember the first book you bought for yourself? Or the first book you checked out of the library? What was it and why did you choose it?

I remember when Lackawanna County first started running its BookMobile in the mid-1980s. It would stop in the VFW parking lot while my daughter waited for the bus to take her to kindergarten. One of the first books I checked out was Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews.

  1. Oh I've heard of this book, did you enjoy it? The first book I ever borrowed from the library was most likely a Baby Sitter's Club book by Anne M. Martin. They were the first novels I ever read and liked. My primary school principle had bought almost the whole series for my 6th grade class and we had to read and talk about them so when I went to middle school those were the books I borrowed from the school library :)

  2. I don't remember buying this book, but I do remember reading it and the impact it had on me. I loved this book and it has always been one of those books that helped influenced my love for reading...I miss her writing. I recently went and read the latest book, and was disappointed...it might have her name onit, but it isn't the same. *sighs*

I don't remember first bought book, but I do remember first library book checked out. Check out my answer for Booking Through Thursday.

  4. Oh, VC Andrews! I read a lot of her books (including all of the Flowers books), and they were so thrilling and forbidden when I was younger! Did you ever read the Heaven series?

  7. I don't remember this series, but, I think I was busy raising a family at that time, and didn't have much time for reading.

  8. Oh, I used to love the BookMobile! I've never really read anything by VC Andrews. I did start Flowers in the Attic once, but never finished it for some reason. Maybe I'll give it another try this year.

  12. When considering including real estate as part of your investment portfolio, there are a lot of factors you will need to consider. It is not just a matter of deciding on a property to invest in, because you will also need to answer a few questions about your investment.
